RATE OF RECURRENT BLEEDING DUE TO ESOPHAGEAL VENOUS RUPTURE AND SOME RELATED FACTORS IN CIRRHOSIS PATIENTS TREATED WITH PROPRANOLOLE COMBINED WITH RUBBER BANDAGE LIGAMENT IN TUYEN QUANG
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: The rate of recurrent bleeding and analysis of some factors related to recurrent bleeding in cirrhotic patients treated with Propranolol combined with rubber band ligation at Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital in 2025-2026.
Subjects: Eighty-six cirrhotic patients with ruptured esophageal varices were treated with Propranolol combined with rubber band ligation at the Internal Medicine Department of Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital.
Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study.
Results: The recurrence rate was 26,7% (including 10,4% mortality). Several factors associated with the risk of recurrent bleeding in this study included: Factors included alcoholic cirrhosis (OR=0,2; 95%CI: 0,04-0,92), grade III esophageal varices (OR=7,8; 95%CI:1,09-55,57), diffuse esophageal varices (OR=8,8; 95%CI:0,62-17,34), continued alcohol consumption after treatment (OR=5,4; 95%CI: 1,04-28,39), and irregular or non-adherence to Propranolol therapy (OR=0,1; 95%CI: 0,01-0,5).
Conclusion: The rate of recurrent bleeding within six months was 26.7%. Risk factors for recurrent bleeding included alcoholic cirrhosis, grade III esophageal varices, diffuse esophageal varices, continued alcohol consumption after treatment, and irregular or non-adherence to Propranolol therapy.
