Abstract

Objective: To evaluate clinical and radiographic healing outcomes following regenerative endodontic treatment using platelet-rich fibrin in immature permanent teeth with pulp necrosis.

Methods: A single-arm clinical interventional study was conducted in 12 patients with 16 immature permanent teeth with pulp necrosis. All teeth underwent regenerative endodontic treatment using platelet-rich fibrin. Outcomes were assessed based on clinical signs and symptoms at 1 week and periapical healing on radiographic examination at 3 and 6 months.

Results: Before treatment, pain was recorded in 12 of 16 teeth, tenderness to percussion in 13 of 16 teeth, and swelling in 8 of 16 teeth. At 1 week, all teeth were pain-free. At 3 months, complete healing was observed in 5 of 16 teeth, while 11 of 16 teeth showed partial healing. At 6 months, complete healing was observed in 12 of 16 teeth, while the remaining 4 teeth showed partial healing. No cases of non-healing were recorded. All teeth demonstrated favorable clinical and radiographic outcomes at 6 months.

Conclusion: Regenerative endodontic treatment using platelet-rich fibrin was associated with favorable short-term outcomes in terms of clinical symptom control and periapical healing in immature permanent teeth with pulp necrosis.
