Abstract

Background: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is one of the most severe presentations of acute coronary syndrome. Percutaneous coronary intervention improves prognosis, but cardiovascular events may still occur during hospitalization after the procedure.

Objective: To determine the rate of in-hospital cardiovascular events and associated factors in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.

Subjects and methods: A cohort study combining retrospective and prospective data collection was conducted among 234 patients treated at the Department of Interventional Cardiology, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, from September 2024 to June 2026. Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify independently associated factors.

Results: In-hospital cardiovascular events occurred in 21.4% of patients. Independently associated factors were age per 10-year increase (aOR = 1.761; 95% CI: 1.163–2.666), Killip class per one-class increase (aOR = 3.525; 95% CI: 2.365–5.254), and post-PCI TIMI flow grade per one-grade increase (aOR = 0.346; 95% CI: 0.128–0.930).

Conclusion: Age, Killip class, and post-PCI TIMI flow grade were independently associated with in-hospital cardiovascular events.
