Abstract

Objective: To Evaluation of short-term outcomes and factors associated with the replantation of long fingers at the 108 Military Central Hospital (2021–2026).

Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study combining retrospective and prospective data included 56 patients with 92 replanted digits II-V from January 2021 to June 2026.

Results: Mean age was 38.0 ± 12.9 years; 71.4% were male and 87.5% had occupational injuries. Crush injuries accounted for 77.2% and zone IV injuries for 82.6%. Mean ischemia time was 7.9 ± 2.1 hours; 92.4% of amputated parts were properly preserved. Complete survival was achieved in 85/92 digits (92.4%; 95% confidence interval, 84.9%-96.9%). Survival was higher with proper than improper preservation (96.5% vs 42.9%; p<0.001).

Conclusion: Non-thumb digit replantation achieved a high early survival rate; proper preservation was the most prominent characteristic associated with survival in exploratory analysis.
