IRREGULAR ANTIBODY IDENTIFICATION IN DARATUMUMAB-TREATED PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE MYELOMA AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEMATOLOGY AND BLOOD TRANSFUSION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To describe the results of irregular antibody identification in patients with multiple myeloma receiving Daratumumab after mitigation of anti-CD38 interference at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
Study design: A cross-sectional descriptive study.
Study setting: The study was conducted at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Vietnam, from January 2023 to December 2026.
Subjects: 69 patients with multiple myeloma receiving Daratumumab who were indicated for irregular antibody screening.
Results: Before mitigation of anti-CD38 interference, 100% of patients treated with Daratumumab had positive irregular antibody screening results. After mitigation of anti-CD38 interference, alloantibodies were detected in 15.9% of patients. Two alloantibodies, anti-Mia (63.6%) and anti-E (36.4%), were identified. The median anti-CD38 antibody titer was markedly higher than the median alloantibody titer (1024 vs. 4, respectively).
Conclusion: Mitigation of anti-CD38 interference facilitates the identification of irregular antibodies in patients with multiple myeloma treated with Daratumumab.
