Abstract
Repeat abortion in Vietnam as well as many countries around the world is still very popular despite the potential risks affecting not only physical health but also mental health. It was conducted at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to describe the situation of repeat abortions and some associated factors among women having abortion. It used a descriptive cross-sectional method to interview 477 women to have an abortion with the results: the repeat abortion rate was 22.2%. Associated factors include: occupation, the older you are, the higher the risk of repeat abortions. Family and social factors such as having 2 or more children, having a son, using condoms, husband/partner have the most influence on abortion decision and desire to continue Future pregnancies are associated with repeat abortions. More than one-fifth of women have repeat abortions and are related to family and social factors. Therefore, appropriate interventions are needed to reduce repeat abortion rate.
