IDENTIFYING AND RANKING THE QUALITY OF INPUT DATA SOURCES FOR A COST-EFFECTIVENESS MODEL OF A SCHOOL-BASED MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION AND PREVENTION INTERVENTION IN VIETNAM

Abstract

Objective:To identify and evaluate the quality of input data sources for the basic parameters of the cost-effectiveness analysis model of the school-based mental health promotion and prevention intervention in Vietnam. Method:Using literature review combined with in-depth interviews. The quality of the selected data sources was ranked based on recommended hierarchies of data sources for health economic analyses. Results:All relevant input data sources were identified based on the literature review. The results of in-depth interviews confirmed the appropriateness of the data sources, the generalizability to the target population, the availability of alternative data sources. Data sources for intervention effect size, transition probabilities, cost, and utility weightswere ranked with the lowest quality score of 3 and the highest of 1 (on a scale of 6 to 1+, corresponding to the lowest quality tohighest quality). Conclusion: All relevant input data sources were identified and assessed as appropriate for the model and high quality. The transparent presentation of the methodology for identifying data sources, detailed description of the selected data sources and their rationale, and the high quality of data sources will enhance the transparency and reliability of the model results.
