Abstract

Open shinbone fracture is a common injury, accounting for the highest percentage of open fractures of long bones. The external fixed frame is the most suitable means of bone fusion for open fractures of the lower legs, grade II, III, and infectious open fractures. Objectives: To evaluate the results of treatment of open shinbone fracture using external fixed frames at Viet Duc Hospital. Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional description of 75 patients with double shin fractures, treated using a FESSA type external fixator. Evaluation of software healing results according to De La Cafinière, bone healing results according to RUSH scale and functional rehabilitation according to Terschiphort. Results: software integration: good and very good accounting for 69.3%; bone healing: good 65.4%, average 30.8%; Rehabilitation: good and very good accounted for 89%. Conclusion: The external fixation frame is still a useful tool in the treatment of open shinbone fractures.
