AFFECTING FACTORS FOR IOP LOWERING ABILITY OF PRIMARY STL ON POAG

Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the affecting factors on the outcome of the primary SLT for POAG. Patients and Methods: no control interventional study on 36 eyes ò 18 POAG patients who were treated with primary SLT on 360o. All patients then were followed at 2 weeks, 1 month and 2 months. Additional IOP lowering medications were noted at 1 month and 2 months. The affecting factors were analyzed. Results: There was a proportionate relationship between the success rate and the initial IOP at 2 weeks and 2 months. Angle opening grade was also related with the responding rate to SLT at 2 months. However, there were no significant influence of age, sex, pre-treatment VA, disease stages, trabecular pigment, angle opening on the final outcome. Conclusion: There was a proportionate relationship between the success rate and the initial IOP.
