Abstract

Background/Objective: Flexible ureterorenoscopy with laser lithotripsy is an attractive treatment option for renal stone: residual postsurgery, ESWL resistant, movement back into kidney in ureteroscopy, hard position for open surgery... The study aims at evaluating initial results of flexible ureteroscopy in treatment of renal stone. Materials and methods: Prospective study of 40 patients with kidney stones treated by flexible ureterorenoscopy at Viet Tiep Hospital from october 2020 to june 2021. Results: The average age: 55,88 ± 9,47 (range from 35 to 72 years old), 24 males (60%) and 16 females (40%). Hospitalization: Burning with urination 15%, fever 5%. Hydronephrosis on ultrasound includes: normal 30%, grade 1 37,5%, grade 2 30% and grade 3 2,5%. Stone location: lower calyx 75%, lower calyx and associate other position 25%. Mean size stone: 12,77 ± 4,22 mm (6-20 mm). Ureteral access sheath used in 36 cases (90%). Average operative time: 70 ± 13,82 minutes (40 - 100). Success in operation: 85%, failure: 15%. Postoperative complications: fever 7,5%, hematuria 37,5%. Stone free rate after 1 month: 92,5%. Conclusion: Flexible ureteroscopy is good and effective method for treatment of renal stone, especially for the cases treated with surgical procedures before.
