RESULTS OF TREATMENT OF CLOSED FRACTURES AT DISTAL FEMUR USING LOCKING COMPRESSION PLATES IN 108 CENTRAL MILITARY HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Aims: To evaluate the outcome and the complications of the treatment of closed distal femoral fractures using locking plates. Material and methods: We studied 42 closed distal femoral fractures treated with distal femoral locking plates between 2017 to 2020 in the central military108 hospitals. Results: there were 12 men and 30 women with a mean age of 59,93 years (range 16–84). 76,19 % were of types A1, A3, and the main cause was traffic accidents. Of the 32 patients who had late result evaluation, the mean follow-up period was 18.6 months (range 12–36): in terms of knee joint function ROM >125° was noted in 26 patients, 100°–125° in 5 patients and 90°–99° in 1 patient, 96.88% of patients had good/excellent outcome. The union rate was 100%. Conclusion: Surgical management for closed distal femoral fracture with locking plates achieves optimal outcomes. Locking plates can be applied for most of the closed distal femoral fractures, especially for the elder with osteoporosis.
