COMPRESSIVE MYELOPATHY IN CONGENITAL KYPHOSIS OF THE UPPER THORACIC SPINE: CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW
Main Article Content
Abstract
Congenital kyphosis is an uncommon deformity of the vertebrae, in which there is imbalance in the longitudinal growth of the spine [1]. The Congenital Kyphosis of the Upper Thoracic Spine were rare 3.6%. 50% of these patients developed paraplegia, which may indicate higher risk of neurological comorbidity in congenital kyphosis of the upper thoracic spine [1]. A 4 years old female developed sudden onset of paraparesis for 4 months. She underwent a posterior approach vertebral column resection (VCR) T5 for decompression and kyphosis correction. There was motor and sensory return after 1 week and can walk after 3 months.
