Abstract

Objective: Evaluate changes in visual field of eyes with primary open angle glaucoma after selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). Subjects and Methods: A prospective, randomised clinical trial. 84 eyes with POAG were randomised to receive Travoprost 0,004% 1 time at night or 360˚SLT. Humphrey visual field 24:2 test was evaluated at baseline, 6 month, 12 month and 18 month. Results: After 18 months, means and median of MD and PSD was no statistical different. 37 eyes (88,0%) in SLT group have visual field slow improvement while 2 eyes (4,8%) have slow progression, 1 eye (2,4%) has moderate progression and 2 eyes (4,8%) have fast progression. No eye progressed to higher stage of visual field defect. Travoprost 0,004% group has higher rate of fast progression than SLT group (11,9% vs 4,8%), however there is no statistical difference with p>0.05. Conclusion: Eyes with primary open angle glaucoma have stable visual field after selective laser trabeculoplasty and no statistical difference in propostion of eyes that progress between two treatment groups.
