Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of low-dose spinal anesthesia between bupivacaine 4 mg and 5 mg in surgery for hemorrhoids. Subjects: 120 patients have indications for hemorrhoid surgery in Vietnam's traditional medicine hospital. Methods: Prospective, randomized, comparative clinical trial. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: Bupivacaine 4 mg combined with Fentanyl 0.02 mg and Bupivacaine 5 mg combined with Fentanyl 0.02 mg group. Results: Both doses were safe and effective, but the 4 mg dose of Bupivacaine performs better in blocking maximal sensation and inhibiting motor activity than the dose of 5 mg. Conclusion: Bupivacaine 4 mg in combination with 0.02 mg fentanyl is recommended for spinal anesthesia for hemorrhoid surgery, especially in high-risk patients.
