Abstract

Our study aimed to evaluate the preliminary results of patient with right colon cancer who underwent laparoscopic surgery. Methods: The authors reviewed records from 43 patients with histologically proven right colon carcinoma from July 2017 to October 2021. Patients were treated by laparoscopic resection. We analyzed the intra-operative and postoperative results include: abdominal incision length, intraoperative blood loss, number of lymph node, margin, postoperative pain, bowel movement, complications. Results: In our study, the average operative time was 161 ± 43 minutes, the average abdominal incision length was 5,5 ± 1,4 (cm), the mean intraoperative blood loss was 35,4 ± 15,4 ml, the number of lymph node was 12,5 ± 6,7, the proximal and distal margin were 17,3 and 15,6 (cm). The average postoperative pain time was 4,6 ± 1,7 days; 60,4% had bowel movement within 2 days. There were no cases of intraoperative complications, 2 patients had wound infection, 1patient had anastomosis bleeding, 1 patient had anastomosis fistula and 1 patient had pneumonia. Conclusion: Laparoscopic resection combined with machine connection was an effective method in the treatment of right colon cancer. The method was safe, with fewer complications, reducing postoperative pain, improving aesthetic results, shortening treatment time, while still ensuring oncological results.
