EVALUATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MALE BMI, WAIST CIRCUMSTANCES AND LIFE STYLES ON SEMEN QUALITY AMONG MEN ATTENDING AN LABORATORY AT HANOI MEDICAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: In VietNam, recently infertility research have been developing and male reproductive health research has been concerned. Semen anlysis using world healthorganization (WHO) 2010 criteria. What is the relationship between BMI, waist circumstances, lifestyle and semen parameters? Objectives: inital evaluation of the relationship between male BMI, waist circumstances, life style on semen quality among men attending at fertility center and tissue culture technique at Ha Noi Medical Hospital during from September, 2020 to december, 2021. Subjects and Methods: across sectional study in 148 males attending at fertility center and tissue culture technique at Ha Noi Medical Hospital during from September, 2020 to december, 2021. Result: the percentage of men with abnormal concentration at lower weight, over weight, obesity men are 33,3%, 22,2%, 20% while normal weight men is 13,3% (p>0,05). The percentage of men with abnormal morphology at lower weight, over weight, obesity men are 50%, 40,7%, 28% while normal weight men is 20% (p>0,05). The percentage of men with abnormal parameters with WC ≥90 cm is 52% while men with WC <90 cm is 43,5% (p>0,05). The percentage of men with abnormal parameters with no physical activity, occatioal physical activity are 48,3%, 43,5% while men with daily physical activity is 42,3%. (p>0,05). The percentage of men with abnormal parameters with fried food consumption 1-2 times/wk, ≥3 times/wk are 52,6%, 53,6% while men with <1 times/wk is 33,3% (p>0,05). The percentage of men with abnormal parameters with smoking is 54,3% while no smoking is 41,2% (p>0,05). Conclusion: the percentage of men with abnormal concentration, abnormal morphology at lower weight, over weight, obesity men are trendly increasing at lower weight, over weight, obesity men compaired with normal weight men. The percentage of men with abnormal parameters with WC ≥90 cm, fried food consumption, smoking, no physical activity are higher than others. But this difference is no significant.
