CARE NEEDS OF STROKE PATIENTS AT THE NATIONAL GERIATRIC HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the care needs of stroke elderly patients the Central Geriatric Hospital. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study, conducted from January 2021 to May 2021, based on the Circular No. 07/2011/TT-BYT dated January 26, 2011 of the Ministry of Health on Guidelines for nursing work on patient care in hospitals, it divides care needs into four areas including medical, physical, mental and social needs. Results: All 4 areas of the survey including medical, physical, psychological and social needs, patients have high needs over 90%, in which most of the cases the needs are met high with rate above 50%. In which, the rate of unmet or met less than 50% of needs is highest in the mental care at 23.6%, followed by medical needs at 14.9%; physical needs 6.8% and the lowest social needs 3.1%. Conclusion: Post-stroke patients have high needs in most fields, but a large proportion of mental and medical needs have not been adequately met.
