EVALUATION OF NURSING CARE FOR ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE PATIENTS IN BACHMAI STROKE CENTER

Abstract

Nurses play an important role in the care of the patients with acute ischemic stroke. Objective: To evaluate nursing care for patients at the Stroke Center of Bach Mai Hospital. Method: prospective study. Results: A study of 224 patients with acute ischemic stroke in 8 months: The rate of men was 61.2%; the rate of over 65-year-old group was 49.1%; the rate of patients who hospitalized after 6 hours was 53.6%; mean NIHSS score on admission was 8.8 ± 5.8, mean Glasgow score was 14.3 ± 1.63; the rate of counseling on drug use was the highest (95%); the best nursing care activities were to take vital signs, administering medication according to the correct 5, assessing swallowing disorders and falling (over 93%); 100% of patients were satisfied with the nurses’attitude, the lowest satisfaction rate was related to  discharge procedure (90%); The rate of care-related complications were less than 5%.
