Abstract

In order to describe the clinical characteristics and sexual behavior of men with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), we conducted the topic: “Study on clinical characteristics and sexual behavior of men with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) at Hanoi Medical University Hospital”. Research results show that: Patients with STDs are mainly in the 20-30 years old group, accounting for 44.33%. The average age of first sex was 20.1 years old, the average age of marriage was 26.7 years old. Infection partners are mainly sex workers, accounting for 41.92%. The majority of study subjects did not use condoms or used them infrequently when having sex with their partners, accounting for 93.02%. The main disease symptoms are urethral discharge 66.32% and urethral symptoms 80.53%. The average incubation period for gonococcal pathogens was 5.13 ± 3.38 days, and for non-gonococcal pathogens, the mean time was 17.98 ± 14.86 days. The mean time of manifestation of the disease caused by gonococcal agent was 4.96 ± 4.38 days, the mean time of non-gonococcal disease was 38.98 ± 10.2 days. Conclusions: The risk of STDs is high for young men, unmarried, having multiple sexual partners, having sex with prostitutes and having sex without a condom.
