Abstract

Background: Facial morphology has been applied a lot in clinical practice, especially in orthopedic surgery after trauma, treatment of birth defects, plastic surgery... Objective: To determine the correlation of some face sizes of Khmer people aged 16-24 at Ethnic Minority Boarding Schools in Tra Vinh Province and Tra Vinh University. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on 400 Khmer ethnic people aged 16-24, whose paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents were Khmer from 11/2017 to 9/2018, measured by observations and direct measurements. Results: Correlation and regression of upper face height with face length r = 0.547. Upper face height = 2.818 + Face length x 0.271 (p<0.001). Correlation and regression of middle face height with face length r = 0.623. Middle face height = - 0.340 + Face length x 0.272 (p<0.001). Correlation and regression of lower face height with face length r = 0.534. Lower face height = 0.316 + Side length x 0.334 (p<0.001). Correlation and regression of nose width with upper face width r = 0.553. Nose width = 1.784 + Upper face width x 0.169 (p<0.001). Correlation and regression of upper face width with lower face width r = 0.651. Top face width = 4,598 + bottom face width x 0.715. Top face width = 4,598 + bottom face width x 0.715 (p<0.001). Conclusion: There is a moderate positive correlation between some face sizes of Khmer people aged 16-24 at Ethnic Minority Boarding Schools in Tra Vinh province and Tra Vinh University.
