TREATMENT OF ADJUSTMENT DISORDER WITH PROLONGED DEPRESSIVE REACTION

Abstract

The study was conducted with the objective of describing the treatment of adjustment disorder with prolonged depressive reaction. This is cross-sectional descriptive study, included 32 inpatients in National Institute of Mental Health, Bach Mai hospital, who were diagnosed with adjustment disorder with prolonged depressive reaction (F43.21). Results: Majority of patients were in the age group of 20-29 and 30-39 (28.1% and 25%, respectively). The mean age was 30.9 ± 13.4. Among the antidepressants, Zoloft was the most common which used in 20 patients with the starting dose of 70.0 ± 43.4 mg/day and the highest dose of 87.5 ± 48.3 mg/day. Followed by Amitriptyline which used in 19 patients, with the starting dose was 59.2 ± 23.9 mg/day and the highest dose was 69.7 ± 15.8 mg/day. The most common adverse effects of the antidepressants used in the study were blurred vision and orthostatic hypotension with the same rate of 59.4%.
