CLINICAL AND PARACLINICAL FEATURES OF PATIENTS WITH UPPER THIRD URETERAL STONES IN DEPARTMENT OF UROLOGY, VIET DUC HOSPITAL

Abstract
The study aimed to describe the clinical and paraclinical features of patients with upper third ureteral stones. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study which included 52 patients with ureteral stones in the upper third treated in Department of urology, Viet Duc hospital. Results: The majority of patients with upper third ureteral stones were men (67.3%), the mean aged was 46.9 ± 13.3 years. The main clinical manifestation was dull low back pain (78.8%). 77.6% patients had glomerular filtration rate within the normal range, 22.4% had a slight decrease (60-<90ml/min) or moderate to severe decrease (less than 60ml/min). Most stones were visible on unprepared urinary system x-ray images (82.7%) and 73.1% had grade I hydronephrosis found on ultrasound. 82.7% stones in the upper third of the ureter were sized 7mm-15mm, the smallest was 5mm, the largest was 22mm.
