Abstract

Objects: To evaluate the clinical – paraclinical characteristics in patientswith thyroid cancer who were treated by TOETVA in Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Subjects and Methods: A prospective study was performed on 360 eligible patients who underwent TOETVA due to thyroid cancer in Department of Oncology and Palliative Care, Hanoi Medical University Hospital from July 2018to April 2021. The clinical, surgical, and pathological characteristics were recorded. Results: The mean age was 35.5±9.1 years. The average tumor size was 8.2±5.3 (2.6 – 27.0)mm. Most of the tumors were found in 1 lobe of the thyroid gland, the rate of tumors in both thyroid lobes was 12.7%. There were 38 patients (10.5%) having lymph nodes detected on ultrasound. 71.9% of the patients hadfine needle aspiration resultsthyroid cancer or suspected thyroid cancer. 16.1% and 83.9% of patients underwent total thyroidectomy and lobectomy with prophylactic central cervical lymph node dissection respectively. Mean surgical time ofTOETVAwas 96.7±24.9 min. Conclusions: TOETVA was applied in patietns with early stage of thyroid cancer.
