SURVEY ON KNOWLEDGES AND ATTITUDES OF FATHERS TO BREASTFEEDING AT THE DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS IN THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objectives: To describe knowledges and attitudes of fathers to breastfeeding at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 175 husbands of pregnant women after giving birth at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Thai Nguyen National Hospital from May to July 2021. Results and conclusions: The average age of the fathers was 29.82 ± 5.43. The fathers had poonowledge about breastfeeding accounted for 70.9%. 29.1% fathers had good knowledge about breastfeeding. The rate of fathers who had a negative attitude to breastfeeding was 54.3%. The fathers had a positive attitude in breastfeeding were 45.7%. Petition: It is important to educate fathers on the knowledge and benefits of breastfeeding and encourage them to become their partner's facilitators in breastfeeding.
