Abstract

Objective: To describe the pattern of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in inpatient children at the Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital in the period of 2019-2021. Methods: A prospective and retrospective, cross-sectional descriptive study. Children under 5 years old treated  at the Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital  suffered from acute respiratory infection were recruited for the study between 1/2019 and 12/2021. Results: There were a variety of acute respiratory infection. Mean age was 22,1±2,6 months. The ratio of boys to girls was 1,7/1. Acute pharyngitis was the most common upper respiratory tract disease, accounting for 8.4%. Acute bronchiolitis was  the most common in the group of lower respiratory tract diseases, accounting for 33.4%. More children were admitted to the hospital in winter and spring than other seasons. Conclusion: ARI is mainly observed at a young age, with boys are more common than girls. Children are admitted to the hospital mainly in the winter and spring.
