NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND FEEDING REGIME AMONG PATIENTS WITH MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY AT HANOI NATIONAL HOSPITAL OF ODONTO-STOMATOLOGY 2021-2022

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate patients' nutritional status and feeding regime after maxillofacial surgery at the Hanoi National Hospital of Odonto - Stomatology. Method: Cross-sectional study among of 120 patients participated in the study. Results: The prevalence of patients with BMI lower than 18.5 before surgery was 3.3%; according to SGA was 15.8%. Following the surgery, the patients received a variety of diets via parenteral nutrition, tube feeding, or oral feeding, depending on the type of treatment they were receiving. The total energy intake of patients before surgery was 1.472 kcal per day. After the surgery, the average energy intake was 802.8 Kcal on the first day and gradually increased to 1389.3 kcal on the seventh day; the amount of protein, lipid, and carbohydrates on the first day's diet was 35.8g, 28g, and 78.3g respectively, and 72.3g, 49.2g, 180.2g on the seventh day. After seven days of surgery, 51.7% of the patients had a lower BMI; 25% had an unchanged BMI; 23.3% have an increased BMI. Conclusion: The percentage of patients who undergo weight loss is high, requiring active nutrition intervention.
