TÌNH TRẠNG DINH DƯỠNG VÀ MỘT SỐ YẾU TỐ LIÊN QUAN CỦA TRẺ EM DÂN TỘC H’MÔNG DƯỚI 5 TUỔI TẠI MỘT SỐ XÃ HUYỆN MÙ CANG CHẢI, YÊN BÁI NĂM 2021-2022

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the rate of stunting malnutrition and related factors among H'Mong children under 5 years old in De Xu Phinh and La Pan Tan communes of Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province in 2021-2022. A cross-sectional descriptive survey combining qualitative and quantitative methods on 437 children living in two communes was conducted. The results showed that the overall prevalence of stunting among children under 5 was 59%. The prevalence of stunting tends to increase with age, the lowest in the group of 0-12 months old (34.3%). The 25-36 months age group has the highest rate of stunting children (75.4%). Factors related to stunting are maternal education level, food insecurity due to economic constraints and continued breastfeeding practice to 24 months. To improve the nutritional status of local children under 5, it is necessary to continue to strengthen the quality of commune health facilities and provide  knowledge on livelihood and food production for the households, as well as tocooperate and support the implementation of local development programs.
