5S KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICAL STAFF AND ASSOCIATED FACTORS: A CROSS – SECTIONAL STUDY AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY HOSPITAL, YEAR 2021

Abstract

5S is a form of systematic visual management, applied as a standardized method in hospitals. In order to implement the method effectively, it is necessary to improve the knowledge of staff, however, at present, there are very few studies evaluating the knowledge of applying 5S in hospitals. Objectives are evaluate 5S knowledge of medical staff at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and associated factors. A cross-sectional study was conducted with overall samples selected at the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Data were collected from medical staffs using JICA's 5S checklist. Information collected via google form link. Inferential statistics were applied including χ2 tests for qualitative variables. P value < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. The percentage of medical staffs with 5S knowledge was 57.3%. In which, the highest percentage of knowledge was  Standardize (67.8%) and the lowest was Set in Order (49.8%). Age group related to applied knowledge about 5S. Correct knowledge of 5S was highest in Standardize factor and lowest in Set in Order. It is necessary to conduct more training courses, strengthen and supplement knowledge, especially in the group of under 30 years old.
