Abstract

Objectives: the study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment for dentine hypersensitivity in elders at Phuong Lien Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi Capital City, 2022. Methodology: the study used randomized controlled clinical trials with 191 elderly people (aged 60+ years old), including an intervention group (96 subjects using P/S Sensitive toothpaste) and a control group (95 subjects using normal P/S for adults) participating in the intervention within 4 weeks (28 days). Results: After 14 days of intervention, the proportion of dentin hypersensitivity decreased by 8.3% at day 14 and 21.9% on day 28 after the intervention compared with the time before intervention. Subjects using Sensitive toothpaste were 5.84 times more likely to be assessed as having improved dentin hypersensitivity than those using P/Stoothpaste (OR=5.84; 95%CI== 1.91-18.38).
