THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON MENTAL HEALTH OF POPULATION ABOVE 18 YEAR OLD IN 2020

Abstract

The cross-sectional study on 1,383 people over 18 years old in 15 provinces and cities nationwide evaluated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of the people by online survey. The results showed that the number of subjects psychologically affected by COVID-19 accounts for the majority (69%). Females are affected more than men, and higher education levels are affected. In which, mainly the effects are small and medium, the rate of people with severe mental symptoms such as insomnia, shortness of breath, and nausea when thinking about COVID-19 is quite low. This result helps to create a premise to promote more research on the mental health of people during a pandemic to propose the right and timely interventions to improve the mental health problems of the population.
