Abstract

Background: Traditional medicine plays an important role in the medicine of our country, however, the quality of human resources in traditional medicine is not high and has not been properly trained. Objectives: To assess the capacity and determine the demand professional training of medical staff working in the field of traditional medicine in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in 2021. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional study from February 2021 to June 2021 on 165 traditional medicine staff at all medical facilities that have a department of traditional medicine or have Traditional medicine activities in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. Results: There are 94.1% of health workers correctly prescribed all 5 common diseases. There are 92.2% think that acupuncture and herbal treatment have good effect, 95.9% agree with the use of acupuncture and herbal medicine at the health center. The need to learn more about traditional medicine was recorded in 83% of health workers.  Conclusions: The capacity of medical staff in charge of traditional medicine is at a finalize level. The need for training in traditional medicine is very high, related to the age group, job title, working unit and self-assessment level of the subjects.
