Abstract

Objective: To determine the rate and analyze the factors related to the rate of low birth weight for gestational age in women diagnosed with pre-eclampsia at Tu Du Hospital in the period of 2019 - 2021. Methods: Design a retrospective longitudinal study to survey 386 medical records of pregnant women diagnosed with preeclampsia. Study using INTERGROWTH-21 tool to survey low birth weight babies according to gestational age in cases with preeclampsia with criteria Z-score < -1 or centile < 10th. Results: There were 87 cases of babies born with low birth weight for gestational age, accounting for 22.5% (95% CI: 18.4 - 26.9). Women diagnosed with fetal growth retardation on ultrasound increased the risk of low birth weight by 28.1 times (OR=28.1; 95% CI: 11.4 - 69.1). Women with increased uric acid have an increased risk of low birth weight for gestational age by 2.3 times (OR=2.3; 95% CI: 1.2 - 4.8). Women with an increase in ALT ≥ 50 U/L increased the risk of low birth weight for gestational age 8.1 times (OR=8.1; 95% CI: 1.9 – 33.0). Mothers with HCT reduction <37% increased the risk of low-birth-weight babies by 2.5 times (OR=2.5; 95% CI: 1.3 – 5.1) (p<0.05). Conclusion: Pregnant women with pre-eclampsia with low HCT, elevated uric acid and high liver enzymes need careful counseling and monitoring about the risk of low birth weight babies according to gestational age.
