Abstract

Objectives: The aim of our study was to evaluate the early results of synthetic bone graft combined with platelet-rich plasma in patients with periapical cyst removal. Patients and Methods: In this prospective study, we enrolled 31 patients with diagnosis of periapical cyst in Hanoi National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology. These patients were treated with periapical cyst removal and reconstruction using synthetic bone graft combined with platelet-rich plasma. The clinical assessment was performed after surgery 1 week, 1 month and 3 months and Xray assessment was recorded at 3rd month. Result: The patient’s median age was 41 years (range:13-74 years), major patients were female (61,3%), patients with size of cyst in range 2-3 cm2 accounted for 64,5%. The rate of good clinical response after surgery 1 week, 1 month and 3 months were 67,7%; 87,1% and 100%, respectively. The rate of good radiologic response at 3rd month was 93,5%. Summary: Periapical cyst removal and reconstruction using synthetic bone graft combined with platelet-rich plasma had good clinical response and radiologic response while complications were acceptable for major patients.
