INCIDENCE AND RISK FACTORS FOR RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY IN PRETERM NEONATES UNDER 32 WEEKS’ GESTATIONAL AGE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity, and find its relationship with some epidemiological, clinical features in preterm neonates under 32 weeks’ gestational age. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study on 167 neonates born with less than 32 weeks gestation or birth weight below 1500g who had an ophthalmoscopic examination at the age of 4 weeks in the National Hospital of Pediatrics from July 2021 to July 2022. Results: The incidence of retinopathy of prematurity in preterm neonates under 32 weeks’ gestational age was 20,9%. There was a statistically significant difference in the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity between low gestational age, extremely low birth weight, early transfusion, sepsis and intraventricular hemorrhage.
