Abstract

Total knee replacement surgery to treat primary knee osteoarthritis is a highly effective treatment surgery, which has been performed since the 70s of the last century. In Vietnam, this method of treatment has also been applied for many years, however, most of it has been done at central hospitals. Since 2017, Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, with the help and technical transfer of the upper level, has performed total knee replacement for primary degenerative treatment for 32 patients (34 knee joints). The average follow-up time was 24.67 ± 11 months, and the results were: 97% of patients had mild pain and no pain after surgery, 94% of patients had good KS and KFS scores or higher. Complication: there were only 2 cases of deep infection, in which 1 case required surgical cleaning and arthrodesis of the knee joint.
