Abstract

Objectives: To describe clinical characteristics, imaging, to comment on the results of anterior circulation reperfusion treatment in patients over 80 years of age with acute cerebral infarction treated at Bachmai Stroke Center. Research Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study. Study patient is over 80 years old. The patient was diagnosed with acute anterior circulation ischemic stroke with quantifiable neurological deficits based on NIHSS transcripts. The patient was treated with reperfusion at Bachmai stroke center from November 2020 to May 2022, and monitored clinical outcomes after 3 months of discharge. Results: The total number of study subjects was 83 patients, in which the male/female ratio = 1/1.075. Mean age: 83.75 ± 3.24. The number of patients hospitalized before 3 hours after onset accounted for 40.96%, over 6 hours accounted for 22.89%. Among the risk factors, the most common were hypertension 72.29%, atrial fibrillation 30.12%, diabetes mellitus 19.28% and history stroke 19.28%. Patients treated with endovascular intervention accounted for 63.86%, 2 times higher than those treated with fibrinolysis, accounting for 31.33%. The median NIHSS score on admission was 13. At the time of hospital discharge 03 months, patients with good recovery who had mRS score 0-2 accounting for 37.35%, disabled patients dependent on caregivers accounted for a high rate of 42.17%, there were 17 death (20.48%). Conclusion: Results of anterior circulation reperfusion treatment in patients over 80 years of age with acute cerebral infarction recovered well mRS 0-2 in both intervention and fibrinolytic treatment groups accounted for 37.35 %. Common risk factors are hypertension, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, and patients with a history of stroke.
