Abstract

Objectives: The aims of this study were to establish the Vietnamese version of the SIM-III and evaluate the feasibility, reliability and validity of this version for assessing various activities of daily living. Subjects and methods: Descriptive study in 76Transverse myelitis  patientsfrom January 2021 to July 2022. Results: 76 Transverse myelitis  patients from January 2021 to July 2022. We identified 76 patients (48,7% men, 51,3% women). Mean age was 45,45 ± 16,98years. All 76 patients were assessed on the SCIM-III scale at 2 time points on admission and before presentation by the neurologist and the rehabilitation physician. Total agreement between raters was above 80% in most SCIM III tasks, and all kappa coefficients were statisticallysignificant (p < 0,05). Intraclasscorrelation coefficients were above 0.94. Cronbach’s a was above 0.7. Conclusion: The Vietnamese SCIM-III is a reliable and valid instrument as proven by the statistical data and is an efficient measure for functional assessment of acute transverse myelitis patients
