Abstract

Objective: To assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of oral care of students at An Hoa Secondary School, An Lao town, Binh Dinh province. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 550 students at An Hoa Middle School in November 2019. Data collection by indirect interview through developed questionnaire. Results: There were 550 students participating in the study, of which 243 were male (44.2%). There are 68.9% students with good knowledge about oral care, 69.5% students with good attitude and 23.6% students with good oral care practice. There is a relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice of oral health care by gender and grade: Compared to grade 6 students, grade 7 has good oral health care practice by 0.59 times (95%CI: 0,36 – 0,99), grade 8 students by 0.52 times (95%CI: 0,31 – 0,87) and grade 9 students with only equal 0.47 times (95%CI: 0,25 – 0,87). Knowledgeable students are positive in their attitudes 2.8 times more than those with a negative attitude (95%CI: 1,88 – 4,18). Conclusion: The percentage of students with good knowledge and attitude about oral health care is relatively high, but the percentage of students with good practice is still quite low. It is necessary to promote community dental programs, educate the right knowledge about dental care, emphasize the important role of schools, teachers, and families, especially the self-discipline of students in dental health. dental health problems.
