ANXIETY AND RELATED FACTORS IN LECTURERS AT UNIVERSITIES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

To assess the percentage of anxiety and associated factors among lecturers of four universities in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022. A cross-sectional study was performed between November 2021 to August 2022 among lecturers who are working at 4 schools and have worked for more than one year. The Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) consists of 20 questions used to measure the perception of anxiety. Data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 394 lecturers completed the survey, the mean age of the participants was 38.6 ± 8.7 years and the majority of them was female (60.7%). There was 13.5% of them had anxiety categorized as the mild, moderate, and severe levels of 10.5%, 2.5%, and 0.5 %, respectively. There was a significant relationship between anxiety and correct knowledge of COVID-19 and stress (p<0.05). Although the rate of anxiety among lecturers is reported at a low level, it may be an important concern for psychological screening and timely support.
