Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common female cancer worldwide and the eighth in Vietnam. Despite healthcare workers’ critical roles in patient education, they have inadequate knowledge and attitude towards cervical cancer prevention. The research investigated the knowledge and attitude of over 1000 students at Hanoi Medical University in 2020 and some related factors. Results: Although medical students had a high level of general knowledge of cervical cancer, they were confused about the screening intervals of specific target groups. They also had highly positive attitudes toward cancer prevention, but they were not confident to advise their acquaintances. Some associated factors with inadequate knowledge were education status, religious affiliation, relationship status, current living place and having acquaintances with cervical cancer, while factors associated with negative attitude were the current living place, relationship status and the gender that participants had sex with.
