CHARACTERISTICS OF FRAILTY SYNDROME IN ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH OSTEOPOROSIS AT NATIONAL GERIATRIC HOSPITAL

Abstract

Frailty syndrome is a geriatric syndrome that occurs as a result of the accumulation of multiple organ system failure processes in the body, expressing as a state of harm to physical, society and environment health. Methods: a cross-sectional study conducted on 210 osteoporosis patients from August 2021 to August 2022 at the National Geriatric Hospital. Research results showed that 22.86% of osteoporosis patients have frailty syndrome, almost were mild stage (18.1%) and moderate stage (4.76%), without severe, very severe or terminal ill. The prevalence of frailty syndrome in single/widowed/divorced people is 48.48% and 18.08% higher, respectively and the difference is statistically significant with 95% CI. The proportion of osteoporosis patients with Osteoporosis is not small. The evaluation of this syndrome in osteoporosis patients should become a routine procedure to detect and provide appropriate interventions, thereby helping to improve the quality of life of elderly patients.
