THE CAUSES OF ENDOGENOUS ENDOPHTHALMITIS IN CHILDREN AT NATIONAL EYE HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: Analyse the causes of endogenous endophalmitis in children. Methods: The study was conducted on children aged 0-18 years who were diagnosed and treated for endogenous endophthalmitis at National Eye Hospital from 1/2016 to 12/2020. Retrospective study described a series of diseases with a sample size of 162 patients. The medical records were collected and recorded information related to age, gender, area, systemic disease and microbiology test. Results: Gram-positive cocci is the most common cause (male-45,9%, female-42,9%), followed by Gram-negative cocci. 88,8% of patients didn’t report any systemic disease. Conclusion: Gram-positive cocci is the leading cause of endogenous endophthalmitis in children, followed by Gram-negative cocci. Most of the patients didn’t have any systemic disease.
