Abstract

Introduction: Distal femur fracture is a complicated injury, commonly occurs due to daily accidents (traffic accidents or workplace accidents). Immobilization was traditionally applied, but causing high rate of malfuction, dislocated knee. Bone fixation has been used recently with some reports of improved treatment quality. This study was done to assess the surgical result of distal femur fracture repair in adult at Viet Duc University Hospital. Method: Retrospective and prospective study on 36 patients with distal femur fracture operated at Viet Duc University Hospital from January 2017 to December 2018. Result: The rate of good and excellent union on femur radiography is 77,78%. 100% of the patients had proper union after 6 months. 58,33% had good and excellent outcomes. Conclusion: Distal femur fracture is a complicated injury and tends to increase with the increase of traffic and workplace accidents in Vietnam. Surgical treatment of distal femur fracture with rehabilitation may result in good outcomes.
