Abstract

Diabetes is one of the main causes of the global burden of disease, leaving heavy consequences including chronic kidney disease. Early detection of hyperglycemia helps to reduce the complications of diabetic chronic kidney disease. Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of fasting blood glucose disorders and some factors affecting the fasting blood glucose status in patients with non-diabetic chronic kidney disease. Subjects and methods: A prospective, cross-sectional study on 62 patients diagnosed with non-diabetic stage III-V chronic kidney disease, examined and treated at Bach Mai hospital from October 20, 2021, to June 20, 2022. Results and discussion: The mean age was 54.5 15.4 years (19-85 years old), and the rate of fasting blood glucose disorder was 27.42%, with females (33.33%) being more common than males (21.87%). The age group over 59 years old had the highest rate of impaired fasting blood glucose (44.44%). This rate in the group of patients with BMI  23 was 71.43%. The rate of fasting dysglycemia was higher in the group with dyslipidemia and impaired renal function. The rate of fasting dysglycemia accounted for 27.42% of the non-diabetic group of non-diabetic stage III-V chronic kidney disease, more common in women. Factors such as age, obesity, dyslipidemia, and degree of chronic kidney disease affect fasting glucose disturbances.
