ABILITY TO PAY OF AN ON-SERVICE BREAST CANCER COUNSELING AND EARLY DETECTION PACKAGE AT HO CHI MINH CITY ONCOLOGY HOSPITAL, 2019

Abstract
Objective: The study was conducted to find out the ability to pay of an on-service breast cancer counseling and early detection packages at the Department of Cancer Screening, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital in 2019. Methods: Cross-sectional study using quantitative data collected from interviewing with 240 women registered at the Department of Cancer Screening between April 2019 and September 2019 using questionnaire inquired about service prices based on the listed prices and increased 10%, 20%, down 10%, 20%. Results and conclusions: When the listed price for all 4 services of the basic screening package was VND 820,000, 87.1% agreed to be willing to pay. If the package price increased by 10%, 43.3% agreed to pay. If the package price increased by 20%, 18.8% agreed to pay. If the screening package with 10% discount, 83.8% agreed to pay; If the package was 20% discount, 92.1% agreed to pay. The ability to pay the listed price for each individual service of the breast cancer screening package was 89.2%, 85.4%, and 85% forbreast cancer general screening, vascular color Doppler service[mammary gland - armpit] and mammogram [1 side 2 films]. The percentage of respondents who could afford to pay for each service individually, when the price change increased by 10% or 20%, both decreased gradually, and vice versa, when the service price was reduced by 10% or 20%, the rate increased. 72.2% of survey participants believed that the amount paid for the services of the breast cancer screening and early detection package (at the listed prices) was appropriate.
