Abstract
Objective: A research was carried on 340 pupils aged 7-8 years old at Xuan Lam primary schools and Tri Qua primary schools, Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of HMU Fluorinze mouthwash 0,05% on 7-8 year old pupils with early permanent caries lesions (D1,D2) in the two primary schools above. Methods: It was a randomized controlled clinical intervention study. The sample size for the two research groups is n= 340 students in grade 2 at the two primary schools above. The sample was selected and randomly divided into 2 groups: The intervention group with HMU Fluorinze 0.05% mouthwash was 160 pupils in Xuân Lâm primary school, the control group was 180 pupils in Tri Qua primary school. Both groups were instructed on oral hygiene; the intervention group was rinsed with HMU Fluorinze 0,05% once a day and maintained for 3 months. The changes of early caries lesions before and after 03 months of intervention were assessed and recorded based on ICDAS 2 and supported by Diagnodent 2190 fluorescent laser. Results: The rate of early permanent tooth decay (D1,D2) in the control and intervention groups was 61,1% and 68,8%, respectively. After using HMU Fluorinze mouthwash 0,05% once a day and maintained for 3 months, this rate in the control group was 64,4% and the intervention group was 48,1%, showing the statistical significance (p < 0,01). After 03 months of intervention with HMU Fluorinze 0,05%, the rate of early permanent tooth decay (D1,D2) was reduced by 20,7%, the efficiency index was 30,1%. Conclusion: The results show that HMU Fluorinze mouthwash 0,05% is highly effective in the prevention and treatment of early permanent tooth decay D1, D2 in 7-8 year old pupils after 03 months of intervention.
