THE OUTCOMES OF INTRAOCULAR LENS FIXATION WITHOUT SUTURES AT HONG SON EYE HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate initially the results of Intraocular Lens(IOLs) Fixation without sutures at Hong Son Eye Hospital. Subjects and research methods: Descriptive study without a control group on 42 eyes, which were indicated for IOLs Fixation of 42 patients from 8/2021 to 9/2022. A prospective descriptive clinical study of all patients with IOLs Fixation without sutures for 2 month. Results: The male/female ratio in the study was approximately 3,7/1. The mean age was 57,1 ± 13,7 years old (the youngest was 20 years old and the oldest was 75 years old). Most cases had traumatic causes, accounting for 69%, lens pathology (19%) and complication of phacoemulsification was 12%. After surgery and follow up for 2 months, no serious complications were detected such as: retinal detachment, endophthalmitis, vitreous hemorrhage, cystic macular edema. Complications occur with a low rate and are all mild complications: Retinal edema 3/42 eyes (7,1%), increased intraocular pressure 2/32 eyes (4,8%). All IOLs Fixation eyes improved visual acuity after surgery. The LogMAR average maximum corrected visual acuity 2 months after surgery was 0.3 ± 0.13 (the lowest acuity level was 20/60, the highest was 20/25). The mean intraocular pressure decreased slightly from 17,43 ± 6,97 mmHg to 2 months after surgery to 14,29 ± 2,3 mmHg. Conclusion: The technique of IOLs Fixation without sutures is quite safe, although there is a certain rate of complications, but at a mild level, it can be easily intervened and the success rate is very high.
