EFFECTIVENESS OF COUNSELING ON MATERNAL AND NEWBORN CARE FOR FIRST-TIME MOTHERS 2 MONTHS AFTER DELIVERING

Abstract
The study was conducted on 70 mothers giving birth for the first time at Thai Binh Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital. The results showed that some of the mother's postnatal care knowledge has been improved after being consulted: 90% of mothers answered correctly about vitamin and Iron tablets supplement (90%), 91.4% got right answer about postnatal exercise, 98.6% knew about appropriate breast hygiene. 82.9% of mothers had right answer about postnatal health check, 94.3% answered correctly about postnatal sexual intercourse and 97.1% of mothers had the right answer about the number of times of breastfeeding during the day. Before the intervention and after the intervention there was a significant improvement in postnatal care knowledge (p < 0.05).
