Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the dental aesthetic among first-year students at Hanoi Medical University by DAI and IOTN AC. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 698 first-year students aged 18-19 years old at Hanoi Medical University. Results: The mean DAI score of the study sample was 24,3 (SD: 5,7). The distribution of DAI grades was: 63%  no or slight treatment need, 24,2% elective treatment, 8,5% treatment  highly  desirable, 4,3% treatment mandatory. The distribution of IOTN AC grades was: 86,3% no or slight treatment need, 7,0% borderline treatment need, 6,7% great treatment need. A significant positive correlation was found between IOTN AC score with two other scales: DAI and IOTN AC. Conclusions: The mean DAI score was 24,3. The orthodontic treatment need based on DAI was 37%, IOTN AC was 13,7%. A significant positive correlation was found between IOTN AC score with two other scales: DAI and IOTN AC.
