Abstract

Nurse's knowledge plays an important role in providing patient care with good quality. Objective: To evaluate nurse's knowledge about rehabilitation care for cerebral stroke patients after the acute phase. Participants and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study performed on 55 nurses who have been working as nurses for 13 months and more at 03 wards: Acupuncture ward, Rehabilitation ward and Geriatrics ward. Result: General knowledge of nurses about rehabilitation care is inadequate, accounted for 71.4%. Inadequate knowledge with high rate is: secondary injury; swallowing disorders assessment, pain relief; correct posture care; exercise-mobilization; urinary tract care; venous thromboembolism prevention, respectively 65,5%; 76,4%; 54,5%; 40,0%; 45,5%; 63,6% và 61,8%. In addition, the nurse’s knowledge is inadequate on preventing stroke recurrence and secondary injury; creating a suitable living and working environment, respectively 54,5%; 63,6% và 72,7%. Conclusion: Nurse’s knowledge about rehabilitation care for cerebral stroke patients after the acute phase is limited.
